Nancy Smith of Sierra College has been nominated as the CCCATA Athletic Trainer of the Year. Nancy was one of the inaugural conference representatives to the CCCATA and helped to write the constitution, bylaws, and medical guidelines. In addition to being a conference representative for 14 years she served as the Secretary on our executive board for 6 years. Nancy has served the athletic training profession at the national level representing the National Athletic Trainers’ Association District 8 and community colleges on the College and University Athletic Trainers Committee. Nancy is finishing her 23rd year as athletic trainer at Sierra College and during that time has mentored many students who have gone into athletic training and other medical fields. She works with local high schools and their ROP programs to give high school students exposure to athletic training and experience at the college level. Nancy participates in “Hit the Hill” days at both the national and state level, promoting athletic training legislation to lawmakers.
Nancy will be honored at the CCCAA Spring Meeting in San Mateo on Thursday, April 5th during the Honoring Your Own Luncheon.
